No not that shoe throwing Iraqi…

One day after Muntazer al-Zaidi was released from his nine month prison sentence another shoe throwing Iraqi was shot and killed by U.S. forces. The victim, Ahmed Latif, who neighbors said was mentally disturbed, was apparently insulting a U.S. patrol in the centre of Fallujah.

Latif shouted abuse before throwing a shoe at a US army vehicle. The patrol, fearing a grenade attack, promptly shot and wounded Latif. He later died of the gunshot wounds after being taken to a hospital.

“Positive identification of the attacker was made, and US forces fired in self-defence wounding the attacker,” the army said in a statement.

I don’t know something about this whole story just reminds me of that Austin Powers line — “Honestly, who throws a shoe?”
