Hillary Clinton: “My husband is not secretary of state, I am”

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is currently visiting Africa, got a little testy during a question and answer session in the Republic of Congo.

A Congolese student asked Hillary Clinton what President Barack Obama thought about the Chinese trade deal with the Republic of Congo. Hillary’s translator, however, thought the student had asked what Hillary’s husband Bill Clinton had thought about the deal. Apparently Hillary didn’t like that question so much.

“You want to know what my husband thinks?” Hillary asked, clearly annoyed by the question, “My husband is not secretary of state, I am. If you want my opinion I will tell you my opinion. I am not going to be channeling my husband.”

This isn’t the first time Hillary’s gotten a little lost in translation as the Secretary of State. In her first trip to Russia she presented a reset button to Russian officials, to you know, reset the 65 year-old grudge that the two nations have held against each other (because nothing works better to solve these types of things than a big red clicky button, right?).

. . .

Anyways, the button was supposed to have the Russian word for reset on it. Instead it ended up with “overpriced.”

This latest incident is a little interesting given the active week that Bill Clinton has had. Perhaps Hill is a little jealous of Bill’s heroics? Whatever the case one thing is for sure, our state department needs to find some better translators.
