Nothing like a drunk Bush.

So this whole Caroline Kennedy thing has been kind of bugging me. I’m not sure if I consider her qualified enough to be given a senate seat. Why not start her out in state legislature first- sometimes that can lead to good things. While she isn’t the most qualified candidate for the senate position, I do not doubt her knowledge of the law and her experience in the background workings of politics.
Would I rather see someone else? Yes, I would. I think the democrats need to stay humble here and not try to overreach their boundaries if they want to keep the public’s trust. There are a few areas I think where that needs to improve soon.
Would it be a terrible outrage if she is sworn in? No, it really wouldn’t, not to me at least.
Still, it seems pretty obvious to me that the Kennedy appointment is controversial. It’s being discussed and debated heavily in the news and in the blogging world. The main point of controversy is her experience and if she is properly qualified for a senate position.
Well amidst this controversy came this gem from Alaskan governor Sarah Palin, speaking earlier this week with conservative radio talk-show host and filmmaker John Ziegler.
“I’ve been interested to see how Caroline Kennedy will be handled and if she will be handled with kid gloves or if she will be under such a microscope,” Palin said.
Put under a microscope? You were untouchable for almost a month after the announcement that you were going to be McCain’s VP! You barely did interviews, and when you did, it was scary. And you were in position to be a heartbeat away from the presidency! Mrs. Palin, with all due respect, you were handled with kid gloves and Kennedy is under the microscope. And that’s one of the many reasons your party was soundly trounced in this election.
Palin continued, speculating that “there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”
A class factor? Oh you, Mrs. Palin, who can afford to live in Alaska, hunt in a helicopter, have 5 kids, everyone in the family with snowmobiles. You’re not fooling anyone.
Anyways, Palin issued a statement earlier today about the reaction the ‘liberally bias media’ has had to her statements.
“I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office. In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”
But.. with the… and losing your best argument….
Alaskans are wierd.
