Top 20 all-time fricking unforgettable Bush moments. #18.

This one is short, sweet, and to the point. We don’t need a history lesson here, but I’m going to give it anyways. Michael Brown, or, “Brownie”, as our current president likes to call him, was appointed to the Undersecretary of Emergency Preparedness and Response (FEMA Director) in 2003 by George W. Bush.

Now nevermind the fact that “Brownie” was involved in numerous scandals before he was appointed into the position. Also nevermind that his only prior work experience before taking the FEMA position was at an electric plant and a position on the International Arabian Horse Association. In Bush’s eyes, his good old pal “Brownie” was perfect for the job.

On August 29th, 2005 the first parts of Hurricane Katrina were starting to batter the coastline of Louisiana. The hurricane would eventually flood 80% of the city of New Orleans, sending the entire city into a crisis that they haven’t fully recovered from to this day. Over 1,800 Americans died in the storm and the aftermath. A few days later when the Federal Government finally did step in to give relief to the region, Bush actually had the audacity to congratulate Brownie for allowing so many innocent people to go days without relief.

If you think this Katrina quote from our president was bad, just wait and see #17.

Heck of a job Brownie, huh?

I know what a tragedy that was for many, and the poor government response to it. But I gotta say, the top picture in your post is pretty cool…I would take a wall poster of that!

Not all of the moments I point out will be negative. You’ll see. #17 will be negative though… I don’t hold the man in the highest regard for the crimes he’s committed against mine and other countries.

It’s been a long eight years.

Hey hey man. I hope you had a fabulous Christmas and New Year.

I’ve enjoyed reading your posts but you are wrong on this one. The government (FEMA) could not come in and render aide until the Governor of the state of Louisiana permitted it. That Governor- Blanco- was a Democrat- as was the Mayor of New Orleans that left hundreds of school buses parked instead of using them to evacuate.

I know- I lived through it.
