President Bush on faith
This should drive the religious right crazy. Drove me crazy too, but for different reasons I’m sure. As lame duck president George Bush continues his farewell tour, we’ve begun to see him open up on a lot of topics that he wouldn’t talk about in detail before. Here he is discussing his faith in depth with ABC’s “Nightline”.
Thoughts? I have a couple. The first and best was his quote when talking about quitting his alcohol addiction - “I was a one-step kind of guy.” Yeah Bush, we know you’re a one-step kind of guy, anything more than that would require critical thinking.
I also noticed his attempt to link 9/11 and Iraq together, like if he says it enough times it will be true, regardless of the facts. Who’s he trying to convince at this point, himself or us? Everyone in America has caught onto him and he knows it.
Moving past that though did you see how many contradictions Bush had in what he was saying about his faith? Now I know that this is a personal thing and all, but with all of that time he supposedly spends a day praying you’d think he would’ve had a better handle on this. Answering one thing, then stepping backwards right after. It was almost like he was making it up as he went along. Then again, it’s pretty much what I’ve come to expect from our 43rd president.
