A special day for this today.com weblog

Published by skwguitar under News Today Edit This

So today is my fiftieth post here, which is a pretty cool thing to me. I’m somewhat notorious for bailing early too often, but here that hasn’t been the case. Although it’s taken me longer than I wanted to to get here, I got here all the same. And here’s to fifty more just like the first (Well not exactly like the first but… you know what I mean).

Onto some foreign affairs.

Anti-government protesters in Bangkok, Thailand ended their siege of the country’s airports today after a court ruling ousted Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, among other members, out of politics for at least five years. The ruling coalition was being examined for electoral fraud.

Deputy Prime Minister Chaowarat Chandeerakul will take over as the caretaker prime minister.

The decision led to the first flights going in and out of the country in over a week. An estimated 300,000 tourists were stranded during the course of the week-long airport takeover.

Also, in a bit of sad and unrelated news - Fire Joe Morgan is going to be shutting down. This was one of the first blogs I ever got into, and is a big reason why I am a blogger now. I am deeply saddened to see them go.

One more time firejoemorgan, for old times sake?

Everybody out!
[saxophone blast]
Two wide ends,
Wide outs,
[saxophone blast; snare roll]
Two tight ends, and
Everybody –
[saxophone blast]
Split –
[saxophone blast]
Out!
[saxophone solo]
And Orton
Calls…
Time out.
[applause]
