Alan Greenspan: Country can’t afford McCain’s tax cuts

Economy is something that I agree with John McCain on, in the sense that I don’t know that much about it. Sure, I can hear numbers, and some things make sense. However I, like most Americans I’m sure, would rather leave this stuff up to the experts.

When it comes to the economy, this guy does know what he’s talking about.

Former Federal Reserve Chairmen Alan Greenspan was asked if the country could afford the tax cuts proposed by McCain. His answer? “Unless we cut spending, no,” said Greenspan.

“I’m not in favor of financing tax cuts with borrowed money,” Greenspan said during an interview with Bloomberg Television. “I always have tied tax cuts to spending.”

McCain plans to offset his cuts (which are essentially the same Bush tax-cuts he opposed in 2001 and 2003) by ending congressional pork-barrel spending, overhauling medicare and medicaid, eliminating the Alternative Minimum Tax, and by reducing the corporate tax.

Ironically, last year when asked about the economy, McCain had said he was reading Greenspan’s book “Age of Turbulence” to further educate himself on the subject.

In other news:

Two vendors created waffle mix to be sold at the Values Voter summit featuring Barack Obama in Arab headdress garb on the side and a line “Change you can taste” on the front. The boxes are now being taken back because of racial implications among many controversial things on the box.

My take? I don’t care, I want me some Obama Waffles!
